Santas Without Chimneys works predominantly through Madison Metropolitan School District's Transition Education Program to provide presents to families currently living doubled-up or in campsites, cars, on the streets, or in other inadequate accommodation. We also accept wish-lists from families in transitional housing who have missed deadlines for other programs. If your family is enrolled with TEP, contact your social worker for more information.
If your family does not attend MMSD, eligibility is determined in accordance with the McKinney-Vento federal law. Eligible families include those:
- Awaiting foster care placement
- Doubled up due to economic hardship or similar reason
- Living in a car, park, campground, abandoned building, or other inadequate accommodation
- Temporarily living in a motel or hotel due to loss of housing, economic hardship or similar reasons
- Living alone as a minor student(s) not in the physical care of a parent or guardian (unaccompanied youth)
If one of these situations describes your family, please contact swc@santaswithoutchimneys.org or message us on Facebook to confirm eligibility and discuss how to get connected to the program.
